Black Book at Franconia Sculpture Park, 2011
This sculpture consists of dozens of fabricated aluminum letters, a steel beam frame and a combination of steel and aluminum for the binding of the book. The page are 12 4’x8′ sheets of SBO plywood, painted with spray paint.
This project has taken my two years to complete. i received a grant in 2010 from the Minnesota States Arts Board to build a new Sculpture at Franconia. i just finished it this summer, 2011. The sculpture reflects the culture of Graffiti Art and the sketch books that we all share with one another – “The Black Book”. The side with the letters shows the foundation of Graffiti that is found in typography. That text is often times bent twisted and fragmented into and abstract and unreadable concept, thus creating a new form of art that we know today.
The artists featured in this book are: PEYTON, DAESK, EROS, EMER, CANOE, NEBS, JAWSH, OHDE, SHAPE2, SENZA, REKONIZE, CAMERON, PAID4, ZEN, STUN, BEING, ADEPT, EARS and SHOCK!
